The dynamic agricultural non-point source assessment tool (DANSAT) is the distributed-parameter, physically-based, and continuous-simulation model for simulating the spatial and temporal impacts of agricultural best management practices (BMPs) on hydrology and water quality in small agricultural watersheds. The development of model components is described in this paper with results on temporal and spatial evaluation, sensitivity analysis, and application of the model presented in the companion paper. Three model components including dynamic variable, hydrology, and sediment components are described. The dynamic variable component includes interactive soil, plant growth, and residue decomposition subcomponents which predicts temporal changes in hydrologyand detachment-related soil parameters, crop variables, and the decomposition of three types of residues, respectively, according to applied land management practices. The hydrology components include interception, evapotranspiration, infiltration, percolation, overland flow, channel flow, interflow, and base flow components. Sediment components simulate interrill detachment, rill detachment, channel detachment, transport capacity, overland routing, and channel routing. Published by Elsevier Ltd on behalf of IAgrE.

Development and application of a modeling approach for surface water and groundwater interaction

Investigation of the interaction of surface water (SW) and groundwater (GW) is critical in order to determine the effects of best management practices (BMPs) on the entire system of water resources. The objective of this research was to develop a modeling system for considering SW–GW interactions and to demonstrate the applicability of the developed system. A linked modeling approach was select...

An Integrated GIS-AnnAGNPS Modeling Interface for Non-Point Source Pollution Assessment

AnnAGNPS (Annualized AGricultural Non-point Source), a continuous simulation and distributed pollution model, is widely applied in evaluating non-point source pollution and watershed management practices. However, the complexity of required input data and modeling procedure keep it from being an efficient modeling tool. An integrated GIS interface was developed to facilitate organizing and prep...
